Overview

Ashford Rugby Club currently run three men’s sides, all competing in the RFU (1st XV currently at Level 7) and Kent Rural league structures, we have a Ladies team who play League rugby and also two girls teams. We have a well-established youth set-up providing a yearly flow of home grown talent and under the direction of Chris Dengate our Director of Rugby, we have achieved clear development goals, securing promotion again last season into London SE 2. Off the pitch our Executive Committee is committed to making sure that the club continues to thrive, and are currently reviewing in detail what a new clear 3 – 5 year strategy looks like as we aim to develop what we have both on and off the pitch.

A key part in the development of the clubs strategy will be its ability to secure commercial relationships with companies both locally and also on a more nationwide basis. Our most recent Commercial Lead has begun this process by securing a handful of partnerships alongside some local companies but we believe there is a far bigger opportunity to build our brand in the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development of a commercial strategy to both attract new commercial agreements and also retain/grow current agreements.
  • Directly accountable for securing commercial agreements with brand new companies
  • Securing key Tier 1 sponsors at Club, Section or Team level.
  • Full management of sales process from lead creation through channels which include social media, online and offline marketing, networking and cold calling.
  • Attend all club related lunches and events where there is opportunity to build relationships with existing contacts but also invite and entertain potential new prospects.

  • Responsible for promoting club sponsors directly through social media channels.

Person Requirements

  • Previous commercial experience ideally within Sales and Marketing.
  • Experience in a similar sports related role.
  • Committed to year round role.
  • Passion for rugby.
  • Detail orientated.
  • Personable.
  • Confident communicator

Remuneration

  • Commission only role, to be discussed directly at interview stage
  • Expenses will be covered where appropriate
